Past the Books: Your Ultimate Guide to the Hype and Hustle of Club Rush
At MLEC, Club Rush is the ultimate chance for students to find their place in the Jaguar community and rise as leaders. This year, Club Rush is on Friday, September 12, in the school Gym from 12:05 pm to 1:00 pm.
Club Rush is a showcase of all the clubs at MLEC, as well as a display of MLEC’s student life. Officers of every club share with students what the club is all about and are ready to answer any questions they might have about joining their organization.
Club Rush embraces all students at different stages of their high school journey. It doesn’t matter if students are just looking for an opportunity to get involved or if they are truly interested in pursuing a particular interest, whether that be the performing arts, an academic program, debate, robotics, community service, etc.
“It gives me a chance to meet people with similar interests and talk to them. I am especially interested in Bible Club, since many of my friends have encouraged me to join,” said junior Jonathan Guttierez.
Either way, MLEC has a club for everyone that will fit both the needs and wants of students. It is highly encouraged that students join at least one club before leaving Club Rush. Joining is a great way to discover your potential and find your community of students that make you feel right at home.
“Joining clubs helps students get to know themselves and the things that they like,” said senior Cherish Nichols. “Recently, I have felt a calling for speech and debate, and I want to explore that with the amazing club we have at our school,” she says.
At Club Rush, there will be plenty of entertainment, including a Live DJ (to keep the energy of students high), a 360 photo booth for fun memories that can be shared and last forever. Finally, there will be a lounge area with games for students to chill out and connect.
Of course, students won’t have to worry about lunch. There will be three great opportunities to get food: concession stands, pizza, and pan con lechon sales (in honor of celebrating the upcoming Hispanic Heritage Fiesta in the Gardens). All benefits will go towards United Way.
To all the students looking to find their place in the school community, don’t miss your chance to explore all that our school offers. Become the leader that other students of the future will look to as encouragement to get involved. Join a club; you never know what great things lie ahead!
