Where the Wind Wont Blow

Amelie Diaz, Class of 2027 Junior

This piece began as a reinterpretation of a painting I once loved. But it quickly evolved into something of its own. While I painted, I found myself unable to add the house or the trees that were meant to tie the scene together. Ultimately, to me, the piece illustrated loneliness and the quiet emptiness that often moves through human’s lives. The path is meant to show that the way to be fulfilled and the “color” we seek comes from our willingness to explore, wander, and connect with the raw beauty of the world. The title alludes to the comfort i feel when wind blows my hair into a mess, reminding me perfection lies in the unintentional nature of the things. In a place “where the wind won’t blow,” we miss the things that make life feel alive.
