You can love your family unconditionally, but let\u2019s be real; they drive you crazy sometimes. With the holidays quickly approaching, you are bound to get grilled with annoying, sometimes embarrassing questions. Preparation is key and we\u2019re here to help. When answering these questions there\u2019s what you want<\/em> to say, and what you should<\/em> say. \u2018Tis the season for awkward questions and we\u2019ve come up with the perfect responses to five of the most frequently asked.<\/p>\n Q: Are you dating anyone?<\/strong><\/p>\n Most commonly known as \u201c\u00bfY el novio<\/em>?\u201d this question will definitely come up and most of the family will hover around to hear the answer. As uncomfortable as this question may be, it requires an answer. The best way to attack this question is to answer with humor and say something like, \u201cI\u2019m dating a few people right now,\u201d or keep it short and sweet and say, \u201cNo one special right now.\u201d<\/p>\n Q: Have you gotten accepted to any schools yet? Where are you applying? <\/strong><\/p>\n Even though you might feel like saying, \u201cIf you ask me one more time I\u2019ll go to Miami-Dade,\u201d that might not be the smartest way to go. Instead, list some of the schools you have applied to and if you haven\u2019t applied to any, then lie. You are better off lying than getting the whole college-is-a-good-thing speech during the holidays.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n Q: Have you gained weight? Or you\u2019re too skinny. <\/strong><\/p>\n Although very offensive, relatives who only see you during the holidays always ask this question. Instead of punching them in the gut you could simply say, \u201cNo. Now let\u2019s eat,\u201d or you can be honest and say, \u201cWell, I haven\u2019t been going to the gym lately.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Q: How\u2019s your: ex-boyfriend or girlfriend\/former best friend? <\/strong><\/p>\n In your head you may be saying, \u201cNever in a million years will I talk to that incompetent moron,\u201d but to avoid further questions just say, \u201cI haven\u2019t caught up with them lately. Wait, I think my mom is calling,\u201d then you run. If you\u2019ve brought someone home for the holidays in the past this question will certainly be asked by some nosey relative.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Q: Why are you always on your phone? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cBecause I want to,\u201d is just flat out rude and that\u2019s not the goal here. We want you to enjoy the holidays despite the interviews. Older generations will not understand this generations\u2019 attachment to cell phones, usually grandma and\/or grandpa ask this question. If what you really want to say is that you are bored and have nothing better to do, don\u2019t say it. \u201cI\u2019m just checking my emails. I\u2019m busy with school\/work,\u201d sounds better and they\u2019ll probably leave you alone.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t think that these questions cease after a certain age \u2013 they continue for the rest of your life.<\/p>\n When are you going to start a real career? When are you getting married? Are you planning on having any kids anytime soon? Are you really going to let your child eat that?
