Since the start of the Syrian crisis–a crisis that has only gotten worse with progression–over 2.8 million Syrians have registered with the United Nations High Commission of Refugees.
The week after August 21, 2013 brought breaking news coverage, videos and photos leaked of the bodies of children, men, and woman killed by the Syrian government’s use of chemical weapons. A national debate ensued about whether the United States should intervene.
By the end of 2014, the United States will have finally rid itself of its own chemical weapons that have been manufactured since World War 1. Around the same time, the Syrian government must also remove or destroy its own weaponry under a deal that doesn’t seem possible.
