Laughter and Lunch: Senior BBQ Delivers a Day of Fun

By Tiffany Perera

As the school year reaches its midpoint, seniors were given a chance to step away from their daily routines at the annual Senior BBQ, which was held at Veterans Park. The event provided seniors with an opportunity to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and spend quality time with friends before heading into winter break. With a variety of activities and plenty of food, the Senior BBQ offered something for everyone.

Veterans Park served as the perfect location for the event due to its open space and recreational areas. Seniors were able to take part in several organized activities, including kickball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball.

Some students competed seriously in the games, while others joined just for fun or watched and supported their friends from the sidelines. In addition to the organized sports, students were allowed to freely explore the park, sit in groups, or walk around and talk, which helped create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

One of the most popular attractions at the event was the inflatable obstacle course. The obstacle course included rotating padded sticks that participants had to jump over while trying to keep their balance. What seemed easy at first quickly became challenging, and it was rare to see anyone make it through without falling. The obstacle course drew a crowd, as students laughed and cheered while watching their classmates attempt the challenge.

“I had a blast with the obstacle course even though it was hard. Everyone fell at least once, but that’s what made it fun. It was an activity that brought me and my friends together and gave us something to laugh about,” said senior William Zachariahs.

Food was another major highlight of the Senior BBQ. Seniors were served a variety of BBQ-style dishes, including pork, chicken, mac and cheese, banana pudding, and more. The food gave students a chance to take a break from the activities, sit down, and enjoy a meal together. Many students agreed that having a full meal made the event even more enjoyable and helped keep everyone energized throughout the day.

“It was nice to just hang out with everyone without worrying about classes or homework for a while. Being able to talk, play games, and enjoy good food made it feel like a real break from school,” said senior Samuel Louis.

Overall, the Senior BBQ at Veterans Park was a memorable and successful event for the senior class. It offered students a fun break at the halfway point of the school year and helped strengthen friendships through shared activities and laughter. As winter break approaches, events like the Senior BBQ help maintain school spirit and remind seniors to enjoy the moments they still have together.
